Dell has released the Inspiron Mini 9 UMPC.
It has a LED screen with 1024x600 pixels resolution, Intel Atom Diamondville processor, 4, 8 or 16GB SSD, 3 hours battery life, and costs 399 dollar with Windows Xp, or 349 dollar with Linux (Ubuntu). Looks really interesting!

UMPC: HP 2133 Mini-Note PC

HP now officially launches the new ultra portable PC - 2133 Mini-Note PC.
The price starts at $499 and that will get you a 1.0GHz VIA C7-M processor, 512MB of RAM and a 4GB SSD running Novell Suse Linux. It's expected to be available later this month.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 has a Merom-based (Santa Rosa) 2.0GHz Dual Core Hybrid LV processor, a 13.3-inch LED backlit display with 1440x900 pixels resolution, up to 4GB of RAM memory, 64GB solid state disk (SSD), DVD Drive, ExpressCard slot, 4-in-1 memory card reader, 3 USB 2.0 ports, Firewire, fingerprint reader, touchpad / trackpoint, web camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, Optional HSDPA, full-size QWERTY keyboard and 4 hours of battery life.

Apple introduces the MacBook Air. "The world’s thinnest laptop" measures 0.4 to 1.94 x 32.5 x 22.7 cm and weights 1.36kg.
MacBook Air features 1.6 – 1.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (Smaller custom designed), 13.3-inch LED backlit widescreen display with the resolution 1280x800 pixels, 2GB of RAM, 80GB 1.8-inch hard drive, (optional 64GB SSD), Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, integrated iSight camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Optional external Superdrive, Trackpad with multi-touch gesture support (tap, scroll, pinch, rotate and swipe), 1 Micro-DVI port (includes Micro-DVI to VGA and Micro-DVI to DVI Adapters), 1 USB port and 1 audio port (headphones).

Apple claims 5 hours of battery life. Seems impossible with such a thin design.
MacBook Air is available in Apple store shelves in about two weeks for a price starting at $1,799.

UMPC: Belinea s.book 1

The German company Maxdata presents the Belinea s.book 1 Ultra Portable PC.
The mini laptop features VIA C7-M processor, VIA VX700 chipset, 80GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, 7-inch TFT screen with the resolution of 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA), DVI-I, WLAN, Bluetooth, an external DVD-RW drive and a cool dock-able VoIP handset (see picture).

Belinea s.book 1 runs Windows XP Pro and weights only 1Kg. All this for around 1190 dollars.

Everex has launched a Ultra Mobile PC called CloudBook CE1200V which has a operating system called Linux gOS “Rocket”, which is a very low specification requiring OS, that has many online apps instead of normal apps. The operating system relies heavily on Google Apps.

The specifications are 1.2GHz VIA C7-M ULV mobile processor, 30GB 4200 RPM PATA hard drive, 512MB DDR2 533MHz SDRAM, 7-inch WVGA TFT Widescreen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, VIA UniChrome Pro IGP graphics, WiFi, 10/100 network port, 1.3 MegaPixel webcamera, DVI, 4-in-1 card reader, two USB 2.0 ports, touchpad, QWERTY keyboard, headphone/microphone ports and built-in stereo speakers.

Everex CloudBook has five hours of battery life on a 4-cell L-ion battery, and measures 9.06x6.73x1.16-inch. Available 25 January for US$399.

Laptop: Fujitsu LifeBook P8010

Fujitsu releases a ultra portable laptop in the new LifeBook P8000 series.
LifeBook P8010 features a high-gloss "diamond black" finish, 12-inch LED backlighting screen, integrated web camera and weights only 1.361kg with both hard drive and optical drive installed. The OS is Windows Vista and battery life are 6.5 hours. Pretty decent.

The price for Fujitsu LifeBook P8010 is around 1700 dollar. Available the first week in February 2008.

The laptop weights 1.043kg and is 17.78mm thick.
